ANNABEL’S STORY

Relative and carer

To me, Psychosis seems to be a loss of connection to reality. When my daughter had psychosis, she did not seem like the person I knew. It was very disturbing for the family to watch and feel helpless.

HAYLEY’S STORY

Lived experience

In 2008, I dropped out of high school due to severe mental health issues. I was 9 when I first started thinking about suicide, 10 when I first started hearing voices, 11 when I experienced my first psychotic episode and 14 when I first attempted to take my life.

MICHELLE’S STORY

Lived experience

I experienced my first psychotic episode in my early 20’s.

I struggled for 10 years to get close to some sort of normality. I still need expert medical support 20 years later.

KERRY’S STORY

Partner, mother

When we met, my husband was a solid, loving, intelligent and accomplished person. Like most people, we planned to have a family. After our first child was born, my husband became a little depressed and stressed, and inexplicably hostile towards people.
