Physical health in people with serious mental illness – a primary care perspective.

Over 90% of people with severe mental illness see their GP at least once per year.
Primary care is critical in addressing the physical healthcare needs of people with severe mental illness.

Prof Mark Harris AO

Scientia Professor Harris is Foundation Professor of General Practice and Executive Director of the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity at UNSW. His major research interests include, Prevention and management of chronic diseases, especially for disadvantaged population groups such as people with severe mental illness and refugees, in primary care.  
His clinical work is as a volunteer GP with the Sydney Asylum Seekers Centre.
